My experiencesMy main interest is programming. For a couple of years I have been programming for OS/2 PM but in the spring of 1997 I switched to Linux an began programming on the Unix platform instead. It is really enjoyable to program for Unix but I soon discovered that it was impossible to find a good, non-expensive (free) graphical user interface. The need to edit setup files to manipulate the desktop items should not be found in a modern desktop environment. Then I found the KDE Project. The project consists of a lot of people around the world who are making a new user-friendly desktop environment. KDE makes use of the QT toolkit which can be found at Troll Tech. ProjectsKDE Icon EditorThe KDE Icon Editor is a small graphics drawing program especially for creating icons using the standard KDE icon palette. It has most of the tools which are needed for easy creation of icons including: Line, Ellipse, Circle, Rectangle, Freehand, Eraser and Spraycan. More tools are planned but not fully implemented. The latest version of the Icon Editor can be found here or at ftp.kde.org.
KDE Display Manager ConfigurationI have written a KDE Control (kcontrol) Module for configuring the KDE Display Manager by Steffen Hansen.KDM is an XDM clone. The configuration only takes care of the visual aspects of KDM. Both KDM and the KDM configuration is available in the kdebase package from the CVS snapshots at ftp.kde.org. KDE Network ConfigurationCurrently I am working on a kcontrol module for the generic unix network configuration. At the moment it includes a GUI for
KDE WidgetsI have made two dialog widgets which are now part of the KDE library kdeui. The KDE library can be downloaded from the KDE ftp site.
